So Proud

I love that John's family have family reunions every couple of years. This tradition has been alive and well for the Ritsemas since the late 70's. We all meet in Tennessee since it's a central state for those coming from Michigan and Florida. John has such great memories of spending the summers with his cousins fishing on the lake, roasting marshmallows, watching family slides (doesn't that date him?! :)), and just experiencing a real feeling of togetherness. This year, we had so much fun introducing our kids to the whole group. It's funny because just two reunions ago John was single. My how his life has changed for him!

John Parker and Claire really did quite well for our first long getaway. It was comical because our kids slept better in Cumberland than they do at home--go figure! I attribute it to the mountain air and the blackout curtains in our cabin. Some of the highlights from our trip were our daily swing time, playing in the pool with our cousins, and our nightly group dinners and game time. JP and Claire were the youngest, so they got lots of attention. I know John and I enjoyed having some downtime while our kids were cared for--it was a great break for us all!
